The Traslacion of the Jesus Nazarene has entered its 24th hour, marking the longest procession recorded so far as it continues through the streets of Manila. The procession began at 3:58 a.m. on January 9, and as of this writing, the andas has yet to complete its journey to Quiapo Church.
Authorities and church officials estimate that more than five million devotees have joined the Traslacion since it began, making this year’s event one of the largest religious gatherings in recent history.
Dense crowds along key routes repeatedly slowed the movement of the andas, contributing to the extended duration of the procession.
Despite the prolonged journey, devotees continue to line the route, many waiting for hours to catch a glimpse of the Jesus Nazarene. Security forces, medical teams, and sanitation crews remain on full deployment as officials closely monitor crowd conditions while the Traslacion remains ongoing.
