The transport group Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) held its second day of protest against the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) and other transport issues on Tuesday, June 3.
RH 5 Val Gonzales reported the same day that approximately 10 members from PISTON protested along E. Rodriguez at G. Araneta in Quezon City. The transport group said they oppose the implementation of the NCAP, as it imposes grave punishments on ordinary drivers.
Consequently, the NCAP’s implementation might lead to unjust fines and arrests for the drivers — a decision that might complicate their livelihoods.
Moreover, Gonzales reported that drivers fear that the Supreme Court (SC) might approve its implementation to other local government units (LGUs).
On Monday, RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort reported that PISTON will hold a four-day protest to oppose the NCAP. It began on June 2 and will continue until June 5, spanning to other cities like Caloocan, Pasig, and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) office.
The transport group's protest also includes Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, and Bacolod.
Despite this, they clarified that drivers would not go on strike and would continue to work even on the mentioned days.
