The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas are studying the possible use of transparent bags in schools as part of proposed security measures amid increasing concerns over incidents of violence involving students.

PRO-6 said the proposal is meant to complement existing safety protocols, emphasizing that “it is intended to complement, rather than replace, existing school safety measures.”

PRO-6 Director PBGen. Randulf Tuaño met with officials of the Iloilo City Schools Division Office to discuss the proposed measure and other possible steps to strengthen security in schools.

“The meeting covered other measures, including the planned hiring of school counselor associates, improvements to school security facilities such as locks and fences, and strengthened police deployment and coordination in and around schools,” PRO-6 said.

The discussions are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in and around schools following recent incidents of violence involving students.
