Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic along Elliptical Road as Quezon City prepares for the “QC Countdown to 2026” celebration at the Quezon Memorial Circle on December 31, 2025, starting at 4:00 PM.
According to the Quezon City government, a pedestrian stop-and-go scheme will be implemented, with portions of Elliptical Road—including areas near QC Hall Gates 1 and 2—temporarily opened for pedestrian use once the underground walkway reaches full capacity. Designated entry and exit points will also be strictly enforced to ensure crowd safety.
To accommodate vehicles, the city has identified designated parking areas for event-goers. These include Quezon City Hall, Quezon Memorial Circle, Mayaman Street, Matalino Street, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago Avenue, and the inner lane of Elliptical Road. Authorities noted that diagonal parking along the inner lane of Elliptical Road will only be allowed once all other parking areas are fully occupied.
Traffic personnel from the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Task Force Disiplina, Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be deployed to manage traffic flow and maintain public order.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes, follow traffic advisories, and plan their trips ahead of time to avoid delays during the New Year’s Eve celebration.
