Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Nicolas Torre III welcomed the issuance of arrest warrants against the accused in the case involving the missing “sabungeros” or cockfighting enthusiasts.

The police’s case build-up began when Torre was still head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Friday.

“We started case build-up, January pa e. Shortly after I assumed (leadership of the) CIDG. So I’m happy na lumabas ang warrant,” Torre said.

Meanwhile, the former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief declined to comment on the National Police Commission’s (NAPOLCOM) recommendation to dismiss PBGen. Romeo Macapaz over alleged anomalies in the sabungeros case.

Macapaz was the CIDG director under Torre when the siblings of key witness Julie Patidongan were captured.

On Wednesday, the Sta. Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 issued an arrest warrant against businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang for non-bailable kidnapping and homicide in connection with the sabungeros case.
