Tornado hits coastal area in Donsol, Sorsogon

A tornado, locally called ipo-ipo, struck a portion of the sea off Barangay Punta Waling-Waling Dalisay in Donsol, Sorsogon on Saturday, August 22.

In a video shared by the Donsol Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the tornado was recorded at around 9:30 a.m., with debris seen flying through the air as it moved from the sea toward residential areas.

According to Donsol MDRRMO officer Armand Garrido, no residents were injured in the incident.

However, several houses sustained damage.

The Donsol MDRRMO is continuing its assessment of the affected areas following the tornado.
