A transport network vehicle service (TNVS) car collided with the railings of NAIA Terminal 2 on the afternoon of January 6, 2025, with no injuries reported, airport authorities said.
The accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. at Bay A12 of the North Wing Departure Area. The Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) said the incident involved two vehicles within the terminal premises.
Initial investigation showed that the TNVS vehicle, driven by a 45-year-old Grab driver from Quezon City, was attempting to pick up a passenger when the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to overshoot and crash into the railings in the arrival area. The impact damaged the airport infrastructure and a nearby parked vehicle.
PNP-AVSEGROUP personnel immediately cordoned off the area and managed pedestrian and vehicular traffic to ensure public safety and minimize disruption to airport operations. The NNIC Medical Team also responded and conducted on-site medical assessments, confirming that no individuals were hurt.
Authorities said the incident was later turned over to the Mobile Patrol Security Unit for further investigation. PNP-AVSEGROUP Director PBGen. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. reminded motorists to exercise caution while driving within airport premises to prevent similar incidents.
