Three more Ateneo personalities appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday, June 29, as part of its continuing investigation into the deaths of student-athletes Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, with additional testimonies and submissions expected to help clarify key details of the case.
Ateneo physical therapist Jerick Rueca attended the NBI inquiry but, together with his counsel, declined to issue any statement to the media regarding the ongoing investigation.
Earlier in the day, Ateneo coach Francisco Alas and Athletics Director Em Fernandez submitted their affidavits before the NBI-Homicide Division at around 10:00 a.m., as part of the continuing fact-finding process.
Meanwhile, Ateneo assistant coach Buboy Domingo and strength and conditioning coach EJ Elumba were represented only by their legal counsel during the proceedings.
Strength and conditioning coach Grant Dearns was a “no show” during the scheduled appearance before the bureau.
The NBI had initially aimed to conclude the investigation last week but opted to extend the proceedings to secure additional testimonies from key Ateneo personnel, who were summoned again on Monday as part of the ongoing inquiry.
