

The long-awaited 33rd SEA Games has officially begun in Thailand, running from December 9 to December 20, 2025. This year’s multi-sport event is jointly hosted by Bangkok and Chonburi, serving as the main hubs for the region’s biggest athletic showcase.
A massive 13,657 athletes from 11 Southeast Asian nations are competing across 574 events in 50 sports, all vying to bring home medals and pride for their countries.
The participating countries are: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The Philippines sent a strong delegation of over 1,500 athletes proudly carrying the Filipino flag. The country aims to surpass its impressive 387-medal haul from the 30th SEA Games, after finishing with 260 medals and 5th place in the 32nd edition.
Among the standout Filipino athletes and teams to watch this year are EJ Obiena, Nesthy Petecio, and Alas Pilipinas, along with flag bearers Alex Eala and Bryan Bagunas.
