American actress Daveigh Chase, known for her iconic roles in "The Ring" and Disney’s "Lilo & Stitch," has died at the age of 35.
Her death was confirmed by her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, and her manager, John Ryan Jr., in separate statements to international media outlets. She reportedly died on Tuesday, June 16, after suffering from meningitis and a blood infection that developed into sepsis.
According to reports, Chase had been hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier this month due to malnourishment before her condition worsened.
Chase rose to fame in 2002 as the voice of Lilo Pelekai in Disney’s animated hit "Lilo & Stitch," later reprising the role in its sequels and television adaptations, including "Stitch! The Movie" (2003), "Lilo & Stitch: The Series" (2003), and "Leroy & Stitch" (2006).
She also gained international recognition for voicing Chihiro Ogino in the English-language version of the acclaimed Japanese animated film "Spirited Away" (2001).
Beyond voice acting, Chase became widely known in the horror genre for her portrayal of Samara Morgan in "The Ring" (2002), a performance that made her one of the most recognizable young figures in early 2000s horror cinema.
Her film and television credits also include "Donnie Darko" (2001), "S. Darko" (2009), and a recurring role as Rhonda Volmer in HBO’s "Big Love," where she appeared in 32 episodes.
Chase began acting at the age of four and retired from full-time acting in 2015.
