Blair Waldorf, the iconic queen of Manhattan’s Upper East Side from the bestselling "Gossip Girl" novels and hit TV series, is making her return—this time in a standalone novel from original author Cecily von Ziegesar.

The upcoming sequel, titled Blair, is set 20 years after the events of the original bestselling series, placing the iconic Manhattan socialite in her 40s.

According to an exclusive report by Deadline, Alloy Entertainment is behind the project, and Grand Central Publishing’s VP Karen Kosztolnyik will shepherd the book to shelves, with a targeted release in 2027.

Fans of Blair will get an inside look at how the queen bee has evolved two decades later.

Cecily von Ziegesar, who created the cult-favorite Gossip Girl novels, will return to explore Blair’s story, offering fans a fresh chapter in the character’s life.

As of writing, there is no confirmed information on whether the sequel will be adapted into a TV series.

Blair Waldorf, portrayed by Leighton Meester in the hit television adaptation that aired from 2007 to 2012, quickly became a fan favorite.

In 2007, Gossip Girl was adapted into a hit TV series that followed the lives of Manhattan’s privileged teens, including Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), and Brooklyn newcomer Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley).

The series chronicled the lives of privileged teens on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where no secret could escape the watchful eye of the mysterious blogger, Gossip Girl. Known for her ambition, sharp wit, and impeccable fashion sense, Blair remains one of the franchise’s most enduring characters.

Interest in the franchise reignited in 2023 when official Gossip Girl social media accounts shared a photo of the original cast with the caption: “Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time away, I see it didn’t take much time for you to dirty up the clean slates I gave you. #GossipGirl”

An HBO Max sequel series premiered in July 2021, bringing a fresh generation to the Upper East Side with new characters and social media-fueled drama. The show ran for two seasons before concluding in 2023.

With Blair, von Ziegesar will give longtime fans the chance to follow the Upper East Side queen bee’s life decades after her original escapades—a highly anticipated return to a world probably glamorous, occasionally scandalous, and always unforgettable.
