

Louie Reyes, the OPM singer and member of the iconic 1970s show band The New Minstrels, has passed away.
Her fellow jazz singer Ivy Violan posted on social media on Sunday, October 26, paying tribute to the singer.
“The Philippine Music Industry celebrates the life of our dear Ms. LOUIE REYES. No good-byes, just the best hello to a very, very dear friend and colleague,” Violan wrote.
Reyes, known for her powerful and soulful voice, was one of the prominent figures of The New Minstrels.
Meanwhile, film and television director Joey Javier Reyes also paid tribute to the late singer.
“Your voice has shown us glimpses of heaven... so now you are home where our Father shall listen to the music that He has gifted your soul. You shall be so missed," he added.
Messages of tributes and love poured in from fellow singers, and fans around the world, all expressing their condolences and remembering Reyes not only for her exceptional talent but also for her grace and warmth on and off stage.
Her group, The New Minstrels, is best known for timeless hits such as “Buhat,” “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo’y Magkapatid,” “Smile,” and “I Don’t Love You Anymore.”
