Senator Imee Marcos said Vice President Sara Duterte is 'grateful to the Lord' after the Senate voted to archive the impeachment case against her.
During the Kapihan sa Senado press forum on Thursday, the senator said she was able to talk to Vice President Duterte after the Senate vote. She said the two of them just exchanged text messages.
"Text-text lang, nagpapadala ng biblical quotation," said Marcos.
"Mahilig 'yun magpadala ng bibliya eh. Basta salamat sa Panginoon, 'yun lang," she told a reporter.
Senator Marcos is among the 19 senators who voted in favor of the motion filed by Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva to archive the Articles of Impeachment against the Vice President.
The four who voted against archiving the complaint were Senate Minority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III and Senators Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, and Bam Aquino, while Senator Ping Lacson abstained.
After the Senate decision, Senator Marcos declared the case as "supposedly dead" but not yet buried.
"Yes, it's dead but it's not really buried, but yes, it's dead. Pero sabi nga ni Justice Azcuna, pwede naman hugutin pa ulit kung magbago ang Korte Suprema. Sumusunod lang kami sa batas at sa Korte Suprema."
Earlier, Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero explained that the complaint against Vice President Duterte could still be revived if the Supreme Court reverses its ruling.
