Temperatures continued to drop across parts of Benguet on December 29, 2025, as the northeast monsoon, or Amihan, remained dominant over Northern Luzon, bringing colder and drier air to the region.
According to the PAGASA–BSU Agromet Station, La Trinidad recorded a low temperature of 10.6 degrees Celsius, one of the coldest readings this season. Even colder conditions were observed in elevated areas, with Paoay in the town of Atok once again experiencing andap, or frost, a common occurrence during peak Amihan months.
Baguio City also felt the chilly weather, registering a minimum temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius. Residents and tourists were advised to wear warm clothing, especially during the early morning and late evening hours.
PAGASA said the cold weather is expected to persist until February as the Amihan continues to affect the country, particularly Northern and Central Luzon. The agency also noted that clear skies at night and early morning contribute to the drop in temperature.
Local authorities reminded farmers to take precautionary measures to protect their crops from possible frost damage. Meanwhile, health officials advised the public to stay warm and monitor vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly during the colder days ahead.
