MANILA, Philippines — Fashion, technology and the stories of Filipino women took center stage as TECNO unveiled its new CAMON SLIM 5G through a runway experience that transformed a smartphone launch into a living fashion editorial.

Held on October 1 at Whitespace Manila in Makati City, “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway” brought together 15 women from different backgrounds, professions and stages of life, each representing a different story of what it means to make life lighter.

Instead of focusing solely on the smartphone’s technical features, TECNO placed the women behind the campaign at the heart of the launch, highlighting their careers, passions, families and personal journeys.

The concept was anchored on the idea that “lighter” does not necessarily mean having less to carry.

For women balancing work, family, relationships, personal ambitions and other responsibilities, making life lighter can also mean finding smarter ways to manage everything that matters.

MORE THAN A RUNWAY

The highlight of the event was The Living Cover Runway, where the featured women walked the stage not simply as models, but as the “covers” of their own stories.

As each woman made her way down the runway carrying the CAMON SLIM 5G, her name and identity appeared on the LED screen while a narration introduced part of her personal journey.

Among those featured were celebrities, content creators, entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen and community builders.

Solo working mother and advertising professional Ely Halig, for instance, brought the perspective of a breadwinner and competitive padel player navigating motherhood while continuing to pursue her career and personal interests.

For Halig, making life lighter means creating space for both her daughter and the parts of herself that extend beyond being a mother.

Twinkle Dimayuga, meanwhile, drew from her experience as a solo mother to help build MAMA — Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action, turning her personal journey into an avenue for supporting other mothers.

Their stories reflected the event’s broader message: strength does not look the same for every woman, and neither does a lighter life.

The runway also featured personalities including Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, Max Collins and Megan Young.

Young, actress, host and Miss World 2013, led the finale, highlighting a journey that has continued to evolve across pageantry and entertainment.

Together, the 15 women turned the runway into a moving portrait of modern Filipina life, where success was presented not through a single title but through the different roles women choose to carry.

BURGUNDY RED ON THE RUNWAY

The fashion direction of the event centered on Burgundy Red, the hero color of the CAMON SLIM 5G.

All 15 looks incorporated the shade, but each outfit interpreted it differently to reflect the personality and story of the woman wearing it.

Drawing inspiration from modern Filipiniana, the designs incorporated structured silhouettes, translucent fabrics, fluid draping and pleats, creating a visual connection between Filipino design and contemporary fashion.

Rather than presenting identical gowns or a traditional pageant-style lineup, each look was given its own character.

Some designs emphasized structure and discipline, while others used softer layers and movement to evoke ideas of transition, freedom and personal growth.

A SMARTPHONE LAUNCH WITH A MAGAZINE-LIKE EXPERIENCE

The editorial concept extended beyond the runway itself.

Guests moved through different sections of the venue, including the Arrival Salon, portrait displays and product experience areas before reaching the main runway.

The setup was designed to feel more like entering the pages of a fashion magazine than attending a conventional technology launch, blending modern Filipiniana elements with a more fashion- and lifestyle-focused presentation.

At the center of the experience, however, was the CAMON SLIM 5G.

The new smartphone features a 6.39mm ultra-slim body and a 6,000mAh battery, along with a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ 700C main camera, Super-Zoom FlashSnap and TECNO Universal Tone imaging technology.
