The 101-member Team Philippines arrived at the Athletes’ Village in Sanya Bay for the 6th Asian Beach Games, joining more than 1,700 athletes from 45 countries as China stages the regional meet in a transformed shopping mall complex repurposed into a temporary accommodation hub.

The Athletes’ Village now serves as the central base for delegations ahead of competition beginning across multiple beach and coastal venues. The Games will run from April 22 to 30, featuring 14 sports, 15 disciplines, and 62 medal events.

The Philippine delegation completed its arrival in stages, with the third and final batch landing on Monday, April 20. Chef de Mission Don Caringal led the contingent, joined by Deputy Chef de Mission Jops Malonzo and Karen Caballero, as teams settled into their accommodations and began final preparations.

Two-time world jiu-jitsu champion Annie Ramirez is set to carry the Philippine flag during the opening ceremony at Yasha Park Phase 1 Ring Theater, leading the country’s athletes in the parade of nations.

Attention is also focused on the closing ceremony on April 30, which will feature the ceremonial turnover of hosting rights for the 2028 Asian Beach Games to Cebu City.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino will be joined by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro during the formal handover.

The Philippine delegation is composed of athletes competing in athletics, jiu-jitsu, triathlon, and volleyball, all aiming to deliver strong performances in the return of the continental beach sports meet after a 10-year hiatus.
