Team Liquid Philippines secured a historic third straight MPL Philippines title after defeating Team Falcons PH, 4-2, in the Season 17 grand finals Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

The Cavalry became the first team in league history to win three consecutive championships, overcoming a late Falcons rally in a back-and-forth series.

Team Liquid raced to a 2-0 lead before Falcons evened the score at 2-2. In Game 5, Sanford Vinuya powered Liquid to match point with an 8-0-2 Paquito performance in a quick 13-2 win and was later hailed Finals MVP.

Rookie gold laner Dave Viaña delivered in Game 6, leading a decisive team fight that allowed Liquid to break through and close the series.

Viaña captured his first MPL title, while veterans Karl Nepomuceno and Jaypee Dela Cruz extended their record with six championships each.

Both Team Liquid and Team Falcons will represent the Philippines at the Mobile Legends Mid-Season Cup in July in Paris.
