The Tropical Depression (formerly LPA 08B) and Typhoon “Dolphin” have exited the monitoring domain of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Meanwhile, another Tropical Depression (formerly LPA 08C) remains under monitoring outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 8:00 AM, the Tropical Depression was located 2,040 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kilometers per hour. It was moving east-southeastward at 15 kilometers per hour.
Despite the exit of the two weather systems from PAGASA’s monitoring domain, the state weather bureau warned of possible heavy rains in parts of the country due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat from August 9 to August 12.
For today until noon of August 10, rainfall of more than 200 millimeters is forecast over Benguet, while 100 to 200 millimeters of rain may be recorded in Ilocos Sur, La Union, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.
Rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters is also possible in parts of Northern and Central Luzon, Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.
PAGASA said rainfall may be higher over mountainous and elevated areas, while the effects of the rain may worsen due to accumulated rainfall from previous days.
