

Tropical Depression "Ada" continues to maintain its strength as it decelerates over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao, the PAGASA said.
In its tropical cyclone bulletin issued at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, the state weather bureau said that “Ada” was located at 545 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1004 hPa.
It is currently moving west-northwestward at 10 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is currently hoisted in the following areas:
Visayas
Northern Samar, Samar, and Eastern Samar
Mindanao
Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur
According to PAGASA, “Ada” will move generally northwestward over the next three days. It will pass close or make landfall over Eastern Visayas either early Friday (January 16) or Saturday (January 17).
From then, it will pass close or make landfall over Catanduanes on Saturday or Sunday (January 18).
It is forecast to reach Tropical Storm category within the next 24 hours and will continue to gradually intensify over the Philippine Sea.
