The 14-time Grammy-winner Taylor Swift is raising the curtain and taking a bow after her record-breaking album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” sold four million first-week units following its release on October 3rd.
“I have 4 million thank you’s I want to send to the fans, and 4 million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was. Thank you for going out to celebrate this project,” Taylor wrote in a social media post.
From movie theaters, investing in vinyls, streaming, watching the lyrics and music videos, buying CDs, and reading the poems she wrote inside the packaging, the Swifties have completely immersed themselves in “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Looking back at herself from 2006, Taylor recalled her excitement when she first sold 40,000 copies in the first week. At 16, she could not fathom how people would care enough about her music to invest time and energy into it. But since then, she said she has tried to meet and thank as many people as she could who gave her the chance to chase her “insane dream.”
“Here we are all these years later and a hundred times that many people showed up for me this week,” she wrote.
“I’ll cherish this feeling forever. Just wow. Thank you for the lovely bouquet,” she said in closing.
The End of an Era
Taylor is also set to release a six-part docuseries called “The End of an Era” on Disney+ on December 12. The docuseries will take fans on one of the most intense and most important chapters of her life, The Eras Tour.
The Eras Tour | The Final Show, featuring the entire Tortured Poets Department set and the first two episodes of the docuseries, will be released simultaneously.
