Taguig City prosecutors junked Vice President Sara Duterte’s perjury complaint against key witness and self-confessed former aide and bagman Ramil Madriaga due to a lack of compelling evidence warranting conviction.

“While complainant has presented evidence disputing respondent’s assertions, the evidence presently on record does not establish prima facie, with reasonable certainty of conviction, that respondent knowingly and willfully made materially false statements under oath in violation of Article 183 of the Revised Penal Code,” the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office said in a 19-page resolution.

“Accordingly, the Complaint must be dismissed for insufficiency of evidence,” the prosecutor added.

Duterte filed perjury charges against Madriaga earlier this year, in March, and again in August.

While Madriaga claimed he had delivered large sums of cash to various individuals on her orders and organized Inday Sara Is My President (ISIP) Pilipinas for her supposedly unfulfilled presidential bid during the 2022 national elections, Duterte denied ever having personal or professional dealings with Madriaga.
