The powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake that struck Manay, Davao Oriental, on Friday morning, October 10, was also felt in parts of Sultan Kudarat, prompting immediate class suspensions in all levels, both private and public, while observing precautionary evacuations.
According to Radyo Natin reporter Marvin Alicante, local authorities swiftly suspended classes across the province as the Provincial and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (PDRRMO and CDRRMO) conducted inspections to check for cracks or damage in school buildings and other structures.
Employees from various offices rushed out of buildings as the tremor lasted for nearly three minutes in parts of Sultan Kudarat. Minor shaking was also felt following the main quake.
As of this writing, no injuries or casualties have been reported. The PDRRMO has advised the public to remain alert as aftershocks are expected in the coming hours.
