

A minor phreatic eruption occurred at the Taal Volcano in Batangas province on Thursday afternoon.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a minor phreatic eruption at the summit crater of the volcano at 4:33 p.m.

Phreatic eruptions are steam-driven explosions that occur when groundwater is heated by magma, hot rocks, or other volcanic material, rapidly converting it into steam.
Consequently, Taal emitted white plumes that rose to 300 meters above the crater.
Alert Level 1 prevails over the volcano, indicating a state of unrest and a possible eruption.
