An SUV rammed into the al fresco area of actor-businessman Matteo Guidicelli’s restaurant in Alabang on Sunday.
The vehicle crashed into the exterior of the Da Gianni Cucina Italiana by Westgate Filinvest at around 4:00 p.m.
Matteo expressed gratitude that no visitors were affected by the incident, although two of the restaurant staff who were in the pizza oven area when the incident occurred were rushed to the hospital for medical check-ups.
“At around 4:00 PM today, an incident occurred where a vehicle rammed into our al fresco area. We are grateful to share that no guests were injured. All guests had already left by around 1:30 PM, so the area was clear at the time,” Matteo said in an Instagram post.
“Two of our staff members were inside the restaurant (pizza oven area) and were immediately brought to the hospital for medical checks. Thankfully, there are no serious injuries, and they are currently being taken care of,” he added.
In another post, he elaborated that the employees were sleeping in the area as it was their break time.
He explained that the driver of the SUV was not drunk or high but panicked and stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.
“It can happen to anybody out there, young, old, male, female… So I think the lesson here is always be aware, watch your surroundings and be careful all the time because this can happen anywhere,” he said in a video.
The interior of the restaurant remains intact and open to guests, while the al fresco area will be closed off for the safety of customers and repair.
“Above all, we thank the Lord. He truly kept my team safe today. By His grace, we are protected, healthy, and able to move forward. To God be the glory,” he continued.
Matteo promised that the restaurant will be all set for Valentine’s.
The Alabang branch of Matteo’s restaurant opened in 2018. Aside from his restaurants, Guidicelli also owns G Productions with his wife, Sarah Geronimo.
