Super Typhoon #UwanPH (Fung-wong) made landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora, at 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, bringing intense winds and heavy rains to parts of Northern Luzon.
According to PAGASA’s 8 p.m. weather bulletin, the super typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center, with gusts reaching up to 230 km/h.
After making landfall, Uwan will move across the mountains of Northern Luzon and is expected to reach the Lingayen Gulf or the nearby coastal waters of Pangasinan or La Union by Monday (November 10) morning.
PAGASA explained that as Uwan moves over the mountains of Northern Luzon, the rugged terrain will weaken the typhoon’s strength. However, despite the expected drop in intensity, Uwan will likely remain in the typhoon category while crossing the region.
Authorities advices the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution, while staying updated through official sources.
