The long-delayed Tanza Super Health Center in Antipolo City, which was completed as early as September 2024, was finally opened to the public today during the inspection of the Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa, according to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa.

Local officials confirmed that the facility had been ready for use for over a year but only became operational this week after securing final clearances and equipment.

“Bumili rin sila ng sarili nilang gamit. Magha-hire rin sila, mas malaki na kasi,” Sec. Herbosa said, noting that the city government purchased additional equipment and will hire more staff to fully operate the expanded facility.

Aside from the Tanza center, another super health center has also been inaugurated in a nearby district, making two newly opened health facilities.

According to a statement posted on the DOH’s official Facebook page, the construction of the Tanza Super Health Center was funded through a request from the Antipolo City Government to the DOH, which allocated a total of ₱11.4 million for the project:

  • ₱6.4 million for Phase 1, completed in October 2023

  • ₱4.9 million for Phase 2, completed in July 2024

The DOH clarified that the structure had already been fully completed by July 2024 and was ready for operation at any time thereafter. The total cost falls within the standard ₱12 million budget for a medium-sized health center.

The health department also reported that it had provided the Antipolo LGU with medical equipment worth ₱7 million in 2022 and 2023—items also requested by the city government.

Despite this, DOH monitoring reports showed that the facility remained non-operational throughout 2025, even though it was already complete by 2024.

In a prior Facebook post on October 15, the DOH revealed that there are 297 super health centers nationwide that have been funded and turned over to local governments but remain non-operational as of this year.
