The decision of Presiding Officer Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero to subpoena the financial records of Vice President Sara Duterte in her impeachment trial is final after no senator objected to the ruling, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said Tuesday.

Speaking on DZRH's "Dos Por Dos," Tulfo clarified that a formal vote among senators was rendered unnecessary after the minority bloc chose not to challenge Escudero's directive as the presiding officer of the Senate Impeachment Court.

"Yun na yung ruling eh," Tulfo said

"Wala [nag-object] eh… So ibig sabihin sumasang-ayon din yung kabila [minority] na ganun ang ruling ng presiding officer,” he added.

Tulfo explained that while a caucus had previously been held to discuss whether to open Duterte's records—where the majority favored the move and the minority opposed it—the prosecution successfully defended its request during Monday’s proceedings.

He noted that House prosecutor Rep. Chel Diokno laid out a compelling argument that ultimately left senators aligned with the ruling, bypassing the need to "divide the house" or call for a nominal vote.

“Mukhang maganda namang naipaliwanag ni Chel Diokno yung point, so wala nang nag-object,” Tulfo said.

On Monday, the impeachment court granted the House prosecution panel's request to issue subpoenas for Duterte's bank, tax, and Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) records spanning from 2007 to 2025.

Escudero ruled that the financial documents met the court's requirements and held prima facie relevance to the allegations of unexplained wealth outlined in Article II of the impeachment complaint against the vice president.
