The Philippine Navy has released the initial forensic results of several submersible drones recovered from the country's waters.
Navy spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, RADM Roy Vincent Trinidad, stated that there is a strong possibility that three of the five submarine drones discovered in 2024 came from China.
The report by RH Edniel Parrosa stated that the instruments in question were recovered from Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; Calayan Island; and Initao, Misamis Oriental.
Based on markings and preliminary examinations, it appears that there is a 55-80 percent chance that the data collected from these devices is being sent to Beijing.
The instruments retrieved valuable data, including sea salinity and depth measurements, which have significant scientific and commercial relevance.
However, Trinidad does not rule out the possibility that the mentioned instruments may also have military implications.
