The remains of student-athlete Rene Baterbonia arrived at Talacogon Memorial Park on Wednesday, where he will be laid to rest following his death in a drowning incident earlier this month.

Before his final interment, a Requiem Mass was held for Rene Clert “Bobet” Noja Baterbonia, attended by family, friends and supporters who gathered to offer prayers and pay their respects.

Mourners also filled the memorial park as the community expressed condolences and support for the grieving family ahead of the burial scheduled on June 24.

Baterbonia was one of two students who died on June 8 in Dipaculao, Aurora, during what was reportedly a team-building activity involving Ateneo de Manila University.

Authorities said the incident occurred in Dipaculao, Aurora, with circumstances still under review.
