Rockwell Ryan Ripperger, Stephen Speak's frontman, cleared up the incident regarding his Facebook post involving his tour, a Grab driver, and a traffic enforcer.
In his Facebook post, Ripperger mentioned that his tour crew bribed the traffic enforcer with his selfie to let them go.
He said he sang one of Speak's hit songs, "Passenger Seat" at the karaoke bar.
"I was like, I can’t believe that actually worked," he wrote in his post.
As such, netizens criticized the singer for the actions they took, prompting the singer to include an addendum to elaborate on what happened.
Ripperger explained that their Grab driver showed the traffic enforcer, who flagged them down, his dash cam to prove he had cleared the stoplight but was unable to proceed because someone had stopped in front of the car.
In the comments, the singer-songwriter even stated that the driver nearly burst into tears when he was almost ticketed.
According to the singer, he was only recognized when he began singing "Passenger Seat."
Meanwhile, Stephen Speaks was in Manila for a series of performances, including the first in-person UP Fair since the pandemic.
