Stephen Curry is stepping into a new era. After more than a decade of reshaping basketball culture with Under Armour, the Golden State Warriors superstar is officially taking full control of his namesake Curry Brand.
The 37-year-old guard announced Friday, November 14 (Philippine time), that he and Under Armour have parted ways, closing a 13-year chapter that saw Curry transform from a rising NBA star into a global sneaker icon.
While Under Armour will still release the final Curry 13 sneakers in February 2026, the split signals Curry Brand’s transition into full independence.
“Under Armour believed in me early in my career and gave me the space to build something much bigger and more impactful than a shoe. I’ll always be grateful for that,” Curry said.
Curry first joined Under Armour in 2013, leaving Nike for a smaller player in the basketball footwear world. Over the years, his influence grew, and the launch of Curry Brand in 2020 cemented his place as both a trailblazer on the court and a visionary in the sneaker industry.
The new arrangement gives Curry the flexibility to explore partnerships with other major brands—or even revisit old ones—while strengthening his independent label. For fans, it means Curry’s legacy in sportswear will continue to evolve, shaped entirely by his vision.
On the court, Curry shows no signs of slowing down. Entering his 17th NBA season, he is averaging 27.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists for the Warriors, proving he remains one of the game’s top performers.
As Curry steps into this “sneaker free agent” phase, the basketball world watches closely—not just for his moves on the hardwood, but for the next big chapter in his influence off it.
