The Department of Transportation (DOTr) refuted the purportedly sky-high taxi fare rates from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to around Metro Manila and neighboring provinces, denouncing it as fake and contrary to the President’s wishes.
(We will not let this slide. The government will go after those spreading false taxi fare rates, as well as taxi operators and drivers who overcharge, and if there are accomplices who are employees of the DOTr or other government agencies, they will also be held accountable.)

Earlier, it was reported that airport taxis had an exorbitant fare matrix of up to ₱2,900 for Metro Manila and as high as ₱10,000 for nearby provinces, into which the Lawyers for Commuters’ Safety and Protection (LCSP) appealed an investigation by the DOTr, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
According to the disputed fare matrix, going to NAIA Terminal 1 would cost each passenger ₱2,800; Terminal 2, ₱2,700; Terminal 3, ₱2,600; and Terminal 4, ₱2,500; a ride to any hotel within Metro Manila will charge ₱2,900.
Heading to Marikina, meanwhile, will take ₱2,700, and Cainta, ₱3,000, whereas San Pablo will cost ₱7,500 and Candelaria in Quezon, ₱10,000.
