President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Thursday that a Social Security System (SSS) office will be opening in Seoul, South Korea, to serve Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the country.
With the new office, OFWs will be able to easily access SSS benefits and services such as membership registration, contribution monitoring, and claims processing—all without having to return to the Philippines.
“My fellow Filipinos, I want to assure you, hindi namin kayo nakakalimutan. We are working hard to make sure government services reach you, all the way here in Korea or wherever you are,” President Marcos told OFWs during a community gathering in Busan.
“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating mga programa para sa OFWs para kayo ay protektado at may suporta, at may pagkakataong makabalik at magtagumpay din sa sarili nating bayan,” he added.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will also be preparing a consulate in Busan for Filipinos in the cities, Ulsan and Gimhae, which will be ready by next year.
President Marcos has flown to the Republic of Korea to take part in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
