The Social Security System (SSS) announced an increase for pensioners from September 2025 until September 2027.
This landmark Pension Reform Program will benefit 3.8 million pensioners as part of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s directive.
According to SSS, the Retirement and Disability Pensioners will receive a 10% increase, while 5% for the Death or Survivor Pensioners. A total of approximately 33% increased for retirement and disability pensioners, and 16% for death and survivor pensioners after three years.
This three-year pension hike was approved by the Social Security Commission (SSC) under Resolution No. 340-s.2025 dated July 2025. In line with the Republic Act No. 11199, Section 4 (Social Security Act of 2018), which empowers the SSC to adjust pension benefits. It was the first multi-year pension adjustment over the past 68 years of the institution’s history.
Despite the increase in pension, the SSS assured its members that there will be no hike in contribution, unlike the PHP 1,000 additional benefit allowance given to all pensioners in 2017, which immediately required an added contribution.
Uplifting all pensioners through inclusive benefit adjustments, recovering from inflation to protect purchasing power, and promoting the value of working, saving, investing, and prospering, as mandated by RA 11199, are the three principles of the program.
