Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto on Monday ordered the upper chamber to reconvene the following day to give way to a cleanup of the Senate session hall after a fire struck its building on Sunday.
“Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III has ordered the opening of the 30th plenary session on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, following a fire that struck a third-floor office in the upper chamber’s building on Sunday, November 30.
“The short suspension was ordered to allow for extensive cleanup of the Senate session hall,” the Senate said in an advisory.
According to RH 28 Raymund Dadpaas’ report, the Senate will be resuming its sessions tomorrow in spite of the special non-working holiday in celebration of the 162nd Pasay Day.
“Hindi puwede, masyado nang delayed. Delayed na kami ng isang araw because of the Friday additional period of interpolation. Tapos delayed ngayon, pero dapat ngayon, (review) of amendments. So another delay ‘yan, so hindi na puwedeng mag-delay bukas,” Sotto told reporters.
The senators will continue deliberations on the 2026 General Appropriations Bill tomorrow at 1 p.m.
