Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian said Thursday that he has not received any official information regarding reports that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against Senator Bong Go.
Gatchalian said the matter remains unverified and cautioned against drawing conclusions based on unconfirmed reports.
“Wala pa akong nakukuhang information na ganun, so it's very difficult to... again, it's very difficult to preempt. Let's wait kung totoo nga 'yung information na 'yun,” Gatchalian said during a press conference.
This came after Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte claimed he had received information from a purported reliable source that an ICC warrant had allegedly been issued against Go and two former police officials.
Gatchalian declined to comment on whether the Senate would extend assistance or provide protective custody, similar to what was previously granted to Senator Ronald dela Rosa in relation to earlier ICC-related proceedings.
“Ayokong magsalita in advance kung wala pang information, mahirap. The situations vary. It's hard to answer, iba naman ang situation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have separately stated that they have not received any official documentation regarding the alleged warrant.
