Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Monday said that the Senate remains stable and united under his leadership amid rumors of an alleged coup to unseat him as the chamber’s leader.

In a press conference on Monday, Sotto expressed confidence that both the majority and minority blocs continue to work harmoniously.

"As far as I’m concerned, and in my opinion, the Senate is stable, both the majority and [the] minority. I am very sure that the Senate is stable," Sotto said

"We will make sure under my leadership, we will make sure that everything will be transparent. Everything will be accountable," he added.

He said he is unaware of any specific source behind the alleged plan to replace him and noted that he had spoken with Minority Leader Alan Cayetano, who denied pursuing the Senate presidency.

"In fact, the other day nakausap kami ni Senator Alan [Cayentano] at nababanggit na rin yan. Sabi niya nga, siya mismo nagsabi sa akin na wala naman akong kinakausap kahit sino...I believe in him," Sotto stated.

The Senate President underscored that the position he holds, like any leadership role in the chamber, exists only with the trust and confidence of his peers.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in all Senate proceedings, assuring the public that decisions and processes will remain open for scrutiny.

"No need for a loyalty check...I’m quite confident. But as usual, any senator who is elected into the leadership only serves at the pleasure of your colleagues, of your peers," he said. "As far as I know now, I’m quite confident that we are stable and the leadership of the Senate is well in place."

Sotto's remarks come amid circulating reports suggesting renewed efforts to reorganize the chamber’s leadership.
