Several bus trips from Bicol to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) are already 'fully booked' following the Christmas and New Year holidays, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
Bus companies Philtranco and Amihan reported that trips from Bicol to PITX have been fully booked starting January 2 and are expected to remain so until Monday, January 5.
According to a ticket dispatcher, while passenger volume at terminals in Bicol appears manageable, buses are continuously being dispatched to meet demand. Most of the passengers who traveled to their home provinces for the holidays reportedly secured return reservations in advance to avoid problems going back to Metro Manila.
The bus companies assured the public that additional buses are being deployed on the Bicol route to accommodate walk-in or chance passengers.
A surge of returning vacationers is expected over the weekend, particularly on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Meanwhile, Superlines also announced that its trips from Bicolandia to PITX are fully booked from January 2 to January 4.
In terms of security, police assistance desks remain operational at the terminal and will stay in place until January 4.
The Parañaque Police Station said "no untoward incidents" were recorded throughout the holiday season.
From December 19 to December 31, an estimated 2.5 million passengers passed through PITX.
