Some passengers bound for the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) canceled or postponed their trips on Thursday, August 20, amid flooding caused by persistent rains brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat in several parts of the country.
Ticket sellers at PITX said some passengers booked with bus companies such as Peñafrancia and F/E Twin Heart Transport Corporation decided to cancel or rebook their trips to Daet, Sorsogon, Naga, Legazpi, Gubat, and Virac, according to a DZRH report by Jecelle Ricafort.
According to the ticket sellers, some passengers could not reach Parañaque because of flooding in their areas, while others were concerned about flooded roads leading to the terminal.
Passengers rebooking with Peñafrancia are required to pay a P200 fee, according to the bus company's policy.
Meanwhile, F/E Twin Heart allows passengers to rebook their trips for free. Passengers who decide not to continue with their trips may also request refunds.
Despite cancellations in some bus companies, the DLTB Company reported that several trips remained nearly fully booked, particularly those bound for Legazpi at 8:30 p.m., Iriga at 8 p.m., and Matnog at 5 p.m.
Some bus companies said their operations remained normal, with no reduction in the number of buses deployed despite the bad weather.
They also reported no major disruptions along their routes, particularly those heading to the Bicol Region.
Earlier reports said travel time for trips heading north from PITX had increased by as much as three hours due to flooded roads along the routes.
