Several students in Manila expressed disappointment over President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, saying they hoped the speech would address their concerns, particularly on education, scholarships, and good governance.

Some students from Adamson University, interviewed by DZRH, said they were dismayed by the chaos that occurred during protest actions held in connection with the SONA, according to a report by RH Tina Nolasco.

Other students said they were hoping that Marcos would highlight more scholarship opportunities, especially for learners from different academic strands.

Students taking the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand said they also wanted to receive more support, noting that scholarship programs often prioritize students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

They urged the government to expand educational assistance programs and ensure that more students from various courses would have equal opportunities to pursue their studies.
