Fresh from making history on the international stage, Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez is lending his voice to a song that celebrates something much bigger than music—the ties that connect Southeast Asia.
The The Voice Season 26 champion recently teamed up with the Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) for a stirring rendition of “Seas Unbroken,” a new song created in support of the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship in 2026.
The collaboration made its debut aboard the iconic Wish 107.5 Bus, where Vasquez was joined by the young choral artists of YVP for a performance that brought together two generations of Filipino voices.
With Vasquez’s powerful and emotive vocals complemented by the youthful energy of the choir, the performance gives “Seas Unbroken” a contemporary Filipino character while carrying a message of unity across the region.
Penned by Von de Guzman, the song takes inspiration from the seas and islands that connect the nations of Southeast Asia. At its heart is a simple but resonant message: “Seas unbroken, we are one.”
For Vasquez, the performance marks another chapter following his breakthrough victory in the United States. His historic win as the first Filipino and first male Asian champion of The Voice Season 26 introduced his voice to a global audience. Now, through “Seas Unbroken,” he is using that same voice to tell a distinctly Filipino story.
But the spotlight is shared with a new generation.
The Young Voices of the Philippines is one of the scholar choirs of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines (TCAP), an organization that nurtures young performers through musical training, rehearsals, performances and festivals.
Their collaboration with Vasquez creates a unique musical blend—an internationally recognized Filipino vocalist alongside young singers who represent the next generation of Philippine choral talent.
Beyond its musical appeal, “Seas Unbroken” carries a special meaning for the Philippines, an archipelagic country whose history, culture and identity have long been shaped by the sea. The song extends that imagery to the wider ASEAN community, highlighting the geography, shared experiences and aspirations that bring Southeast Asian nations together.
The song was unveiled during the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,”which centers on peace and security, prosperity, and people empowerment. The 2026 Chairship also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Yet beyond the official ceremonies and regional themes, “Seas Unbroken” ultimately finds its strongest expression through music.
With Vasquez leading YVP in song, the collaboration becomes a celebration of Filipino artistry—bringing together experience and youth, a celebrated solo voice and a collective chorus.
And as their voices rise together, “Seas Unbroken” offers a musical reminder that while seas may separate islands, they can also connect them.
