A suspected snatcher was caught by bystanders after allegedly attempting to steal a cellphone from a student aboard a public jeepney in Quiapo, Manila.

Police Captain Dennis Turla of the Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct reported that the incident occurred on Quezon Boulevard northbound under the jurisdiction of Barbosa Police Station. According to the student victim, the suspect tried to grab her iPhone 17 while she was riding the jeepney, prompting her to shout for help.

Alerted passengers and nearby residents chased the suspect across Quezon Boulevard, where he was eventually intercepted. Officers from the Plaza Miranda PCP, who were patrolling the area, responded quickly and arrested the suspect.

Authorities recovered the stolen cellphone and also confiscated a pen gun from the suspect. He was brought to the police station for investigation and filing of appropriate charges.
