Authorities at the Port of Clark have intercepted four shipments containing an estimated ₱10.15 million ($174,000 USD) worth of marijuana resin and high-grade marijuana, known locally as "kush," the Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced Tuesday.

The operations were carried out in coordination with the Clark Inter-Agency Task Force Against Illegal Drugs following intelligence alerts from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

According to customs officials, two of the shipments arrived from California on July 1, misdeclared as wedding photos and notebooks. A physical examination on July 3 revealed 1.6 kilograms of marijuana resin valued at ₱2.427 million, bound for Caloocan and Valenzuela cities.

The other two shipments arrived from Thailand on July 3, both declared as used clothing and addressed to the same recipient in Taguig City. Inspectors discovered more than 5.1 kilograms of kush valued at ₱7.723 million during a July 6 inspection.

All four shipments triggered positive alerts during X-ray scans and K-9 sniff tests. Initial spectrometer testing confirmed the presence of cannabinoids, and samples have been turned over to PDEA for confirmatory testing.

Warrants of Seizure and Detention have been issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno noted that air express shipments remain a frequent target for drug smugglers, emphasizing that the bureau will continue to tighten security and training at air warehouses to block contraband.
