One of the three students killed in the Tacloban school shooting incident, Chris Lorenz Fabian, has been hailed as “Pride of Pampanga” for his bravery in protecting his classmates and teachers.

Fabian was remembered for his bravery during the June 22, 2026 shooting at San Jose National High School, where he tried to protect classmates and teachers by closing a door and using his body to block it, helping shield others during the attack that killed three students and injured more than 20 others.

In a resolution No. 10319, the provincial board of Pampanga hailed Fabian for his "extraordinary courage, selflessness, and noble sacrifice in protecting his classmates and teachers during the tragic shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.”

The province also extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Fabian, whose parents hail from the towns of Barangay Lourdes in Minalin and Barangay Dau in Mabalacat City.

Pampanga officials, led by Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, personally visited Tacloban to deliver the recognition and extend assistance to the grieving family.

The Pampanga Public Information Office said Fabian’s actions reflected rare bravery in the face of danger.

“Buong tapang niyang sinubukang protektahan ang kanyang mga kaklase at guro noong June 22, 2026,” the PIO said in a social media post. “Ang ginawa ni Chris ay patunay na ang tunay na tapang ay hindi nasusukat sa edad, kundi sa pusong handang magsakripisyo para sa kapwa.”

It added that through the resolution, the Province of Pampanga extends its ”highest recognition” to a young individual who served as an inspiration not only to Kapampangans but to the entire nation.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to investigate the shooting, according to Police Regional Office 8 Director Brigadier General Jason Capoy, ballistic analysis suggests that the fatal shots that killed the three victims may have come from a long distance.

In a report by RH Jimmy Angay-Angay, the PRO-8 is continuing a detailed forensic examination of recovered bullets and other evidence to determine the exact trajectory and circumstances of the attack.

A 15-year-old Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL) suspect is currently in police custody as authorities prepare appropriate charges.

Police officials assured that the investigation will remain thorough and impartial to ensure justice for the victims and their families. Security measures in schools across the region have also been tightened following the incident.

Local officials and education stakeholders have called for stronger school safety protocols and expanded mental health support for students in the wake of the tragedy.
