The vehicle owned by slain police officer Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) Diane Marie Mollenido has been recovered in Baguio City by the Regional Highway Patrol Unit of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Authorities traced the car after it was reportedly sold by the suspects following the killing of Mollenido and her 8-year-old son, John Ysmael Gabres Mollenido.

Police said the vehicle had been taken by a married couple who were arrested in Quezon City on January 30, 2026. Investigators said that the suspects sold the car to a buyer for P450,000, prompting coordination between highway patrol units to locate and retrieve the unit.

Initial findings revealed that Mollenido and her son were on their way to sell the vehicle when the incident occurred. The supposed transaction allegedly turned into a violent crime that resulted in the deaths of both victims and the unlawful taking of the car.

Mollenido and her son, John Ysmael Gabres Mollenido, were reported missing on January 19, 2026, by her husband, PMSg John Ledesma Mollenido, who was also considered as person of interest.

Investigators said the victims left their Taguig City residence on January 16 aboard a Toyota Innova, allegedly to sell the vehicle.

On January 24, the body of PSMS Mollenido was discovered along the Pulilan Bypass Road in Barangay Dulong Malabon, Pulilan, Bulacan. Her remains were found wrapped in a black garbage bag, bearing a gunshot wound to the head.

Five days later, the decomposing body of her son was discovered in a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac.
