Six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) repatriated from Iran have safely returned to the Philippines.

On Saturday, June 28, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that six OFWs aboard the Emirates flight EK 334 have safely arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

They were welcomed by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega, and DMW Secretary Venecio Legaspi. The MIA Medical Team and a social welfare officer from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were also present.

According to the DMW’s social media post, the group consists of five OFWs employed as shrimp hatchery technicians in Iran and one domestic worker based in Dubai who had accompanied her employer to the said country as a tourist.

Upon their arrival, the Filipino workers were served breakfast and were joined by government officials who welcomed them at the airport.

The DMW, OWWA, and DSWD provided the OFWs with financial assistance, including food and medical services from the MIA Medical Team. Moreover, OWWA will provide them with temporary hotel accommodations and domestic flights back to their provinces.

“The repatriation was made possible through the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, led by Ambassador Roberto Manalo, in close coordination with the DMW and OWWA,” the DMW said in a statement.

Two more Filipino workers are expected to arrive tonight from Iran, according to the DMW.

This group was the first to be repatriated following the Israel-Iran conflict earlier in June.
