A single father was apprehended at the Talavera Supermarket in Bulanao, Tabuk City, after being caught stealing a box of milk. According to the investigation, the man was recently unemployed and abandoned by his wife, and committed the act out of desperation to feed his infant child.
Police said the suspect, who previously worked in construction, had been struggling to provide for his baby after the project he was part of was completed. Left without income or support, he resorted to stealing milk so his child would not go hungry.
Upon learning the circumstances behind the incident, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jack E. Angog, who heads Sub-Station 2, decided to intervene differently. Moved by the father’s story, PLTCOL Angog personally paid for the stolen item to prevent the man’s imprisonment and give him another chance to rebuild his life.
The officer’s gesture has since gained attention online, resonating with parents and citizens alike for highlighting empathy in law enforcement.
“God bless you Sir for helping him. Even if it is against his will he was tempted to do it for the sake of his child. Hopefully he can find a job soon,” one netizen commented.
