A day after Mt. Kanlaon’s recent eruption, significant ashfall has been observed in various barangays in the Municipality of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, and evacuees are in urgent need of water flushing and potable water, said the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Friday.
The PRC noted considerable ashfall in the Barangays of Camandag, Sag-ang, Mansalanao, Robles, Nato, and Talaptap.
“At the La Castellana Municipal Evacuation Center, which currently houses 10 families or 41 individuals, our responders have flagged an urgent need for water flushing and the provision of potable water,” the PRC said.
The PRC has deployed an additional specialized team of seven personnel to evaluate the extent of the damage and evaluate displaced locals’ pressing needs. It promised the mobilization of the necessary assets to address the water shortage and ensure the evacuees’ safety and health.
