The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Friday, January 30, that a shear line is affecting the eastern section of Mindanao, while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) continues to influence Luzon and Visayas.

According to PAGASA, the following weather conditions are expected:

  • Eastern Mindanao and Eastern Visayas: Caraga, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

  • Northern Luzon: Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rain brought by the Northeast Monsoon.

  • Other Areas: The rest of Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances. Metro Manila and other parts of the country will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain due to the Northeast Monsoon.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

  • Eastern Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao: Moderate to strong winds, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough.

  • Northern and Central Luzon: Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east, with moderate to rough coastal waters.

  • Rest of the Country: Light to moderate winds from the northeast, with coastal waters slight to moderate.

PAGASA reminds the public to take necessary precautions, especially those in areas prone to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and rough seas.
