The shear line and the northeast monsoon (amihan) will continue to bring rains over several parts of the country on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)

The shear line — the convergence of warm and cold air — will be affecting the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon is expected to bring light rains over the rest of Luzon and parts of the Visayas.

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Dan Villamil said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will persist over Eastern and Central Visayas, CARAGA, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the provinces of Cotabato, Sarangani, and Sulu.

As of 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, PAGASA reported that no Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) are being monitored for possible Tropical Cyclone Formation.

PAGASA has advised residents in eastern areas, particularly CARAGA and the Davao Region, to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides due to continued rainfall.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies. However, localized thunderstorms remain possible over the remaining parts of Mindanao.

At sea, no gale warning has been raised. Nevertheless, PAGASA urged caution among fisherfolk and those planning to sail, especially along the eastern seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, where moderate to rough sea conditions are expected.
